Peer Mentoring: Models and Testimonials from Effective Programs
January 24, 2020 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Join us for a webinar on the models of peer mentoring! Peer mentoring can create critical matches that understand and support each other in recognizing the challenges in times of transition, empathizing with the frustrations of navigating environmental or systemic barriers, and addressing the root causes of those barriers.
This webinar will explore various models of peer mentoring through four programs and professionals in mentoring, all connected through the National Disability Mentoring Coalition. Jordy Lome from Partners for Youth with Disabilities with facilitate the session and describe PYD’s peer mentoring work. She’ll be joined by Steven Allen from PolicyWorks, Wendy Harbour from DREAM and the Director of the National Center for College Students with Disabilities, and Madelynn Wellons from DREAM and President of Advocates for Disability Awareness (ADA) at Johns Hopkins University. Each panelist will review their program model, match process and supports provided for peer-based mentorships. Further, the panelists will share stories of how their mentoring models impact individuals, including a personal testimonial.
Webinar attendees will also have a chance to ask questions and be provided an online peer mentoring resource page being launched in conjunction with the webinar.
