Description
This is a train-the-teacher session, where PYD staff demonstrate a training that we have run with our volunteer mentors.
In this recording, PYD staff review strategies to support mentees in their career path. It includes background on disability employment statistics and why this topic is important for mentoring. The facilitator also reviews a number of topics: how to help a mentee identify goals; how to find resources for their job search; how to support mentee’s in creating their resumes; how to prepare mentee’s for interviews; and how to discuss disclosure and accommodations.
This project was supported by a grant awarded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.
